Nov. 1st, 2011 09:39 pmMauser got his first insulin shot today. It wasn't a big deal; he's getting only 1 unit right now and the needle is so small I don't think he noticed it. Biggest problem was getting him to stop moving around. LOL!
We caught one of the feral kittens off the street tonight. Several have vanished since the neighbor way down our street by the highway put rat poison under his trailer because he said "something is getting in there". I sure hope it wasn't the kittens.
This one is the one we've labeled as "dumb", he/she doesn't seem to have a good sense of self-preservation, running around during the day and doing all kinds of dumb things. It is, however VERY feral right now. We got the small cage I caught it in, into the bathroom, and it got out before I could transfer it to the bigger cage. I got bit for my trouble of trying to catch it; a towel came in handy for that. I am now being treated to very baleful looks from the rear of the larger cage, every time I go in there.
I don't think it'll be any time before it calms down so I can at least see if it's male or female. Right now, trying to pick it up will earn me another bite. I think I'll get it some toys, that might help.
